UK Student Visa Documents from India (2027)
Most UK student visa refusals we see are paperwork problems, not eligibility problems. Below is the checklist we work through with every student in our Hubli office, plus the points that most often go wrong.
Core documents
You need a valid passport, your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) from the university, proof of finances, academic transcripts and certificates, and your English test result if the university required one. Everything must match exactly. A name spelled differently across your passport and marksheets is a common cause of delay.
- Current passport with a blank page
- CAS number and CAS statement from your university
- Academic transcripts and degree or 12th certificates
- IELTS or accepted English test result, if required
- Tuberculosis (TB) test certificate from an approved clinic in India
- Bank statements or an education loan sanction letter as proof of funds
- Passport-size photographs to UKVI specification
Proof of funds: the 28-day rule
You must show tuition for the first year plus living costs. The money has to sit in the account for 28 consecutive days, and the closing balance must be dated no more than 31 days before you apply. Money that arrives in a lump sum days before applying is the single most common refusal reason we see.
The TB test
Indian applicants must take a TB test at a UKVI-approved clinic. The certificate is valid for six months. Test results from any other clinic will not be accepted, so check the approved list before booking.
What causes refusals
In our experience the recurring causes are funds held for fewer than 28 days, a mismatch between the course on the CAS and the documents submitted, missing translations for non-English documents, and gaps in study or work that are not explained anywhere in the application.
How long it takes
Standard processing from India is usually around three weeks once you have submitted biometrics, though it varies by season. Priority services can shorten this. Apply as early as your CAS allows, particularly for the September intake when volumes peak.
